Spotted you from a distance,

Eyes searching, but never quite reaching…mines.

Me grasping to become whatever it is that holds the center of those mysterious

dark brown eyes.

 

Shirt unraveled,

Tie hanging loose fitted and dismantled

My handsome brotha of the night / Do you remember me?

Cause I most definitely remember you!!

Dat day in the mall when we was first introduced

I was  

Hard at work when u casually walked up

 while ya pops and I chit-chatted.

Sparking the center of my very inner-most being.

 

Had a sista like:

 

Forget all the chit-chat

Cuz I’m tryna get to know dat brotha skin complexion fully clothed in black!

Stock solid stance with the chiseled features and

dark chocolate masculinity…

Knew I had to approach you despite Proverbs 18 verse 22 dats not my style you see I did what I had to do and…

Got it off my chest.

Cuz my inner conscious was killing me.

 

And when you opened up your mouth to speak…

I knew you wasn’t the average brotha but…U was an educated black.

 A respectable brotha

 I don’t have to prove my manhood to you cuz I got it like dat black.

And when you told me dat your peoples called you darky….

I knew you wasn’t afraid to feel because you was a sensitive black.

 

Not black as in the color purple

So I told u your skin complexion was beautiful, but

U seemed quite skeptical and was so quick to knock a good compliment.

Especially when I told you dat your skin tone was similar to a Godiva chocolate,

dark yet…solid.

 

But understand brotha

A girl like me ain’t tryna run no game.

Cuz I’d rather get dis off my chest than to sit here and go mentally insane or

Be at home wit Justin Timberlake singing Still On My Brain…

 

U see it ain’t easy

But, I thought I’d ask you one question bro

Do you remember me?

Cause I could never forget… Dat black in my eyes!
